Santa Barbara Sells Out

This is disappointing.
The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors approved a measure Tuesday to support offshore oil drilling, decades after an infamous 1969 oil spill coated the coastline and spawned the modern environmental movement.

    Wow. Talk about manipulating others for your financial benefit. Offshore drilling will do nothing to increase supply by any amount that matters. Not that this matters to people who can only see the allure of selling oik at $120 a barrel.

    It's an idiotic statement and particularly surprising coming from Santa Barbara. I remember picking my way through the oil on the beach years after 1969. Money ain't the be-all and end-all to some of us, thankfully.
