Bang the Drum: Our Choice: A More Perfect Union or A Stalemate?

My wife and I were talking about McCain's tactics today. She pointed out that the man can't be separated from his tactics. Guys like David Brooks say that these tactics aren't the real McCain. They say they know a different man. But we have to ask, can you separate the man from the actions? Just like the selection of Palin, it can't be hidden, it can't be disowned, it can't be painted over. He's done these things -- and they now define him. He is what he does.

Agree with cgerrish and his wife. John McCain has defended that robocall as being "totally accurate." In fact, it's totally misleading and devised to do nothing more than scare people. And that is how he will govern.

The biggest issue I see with the McCain compaign is his supporters will only vote once.......

Yes, and sometime they won't vote for mccain but the machines will fix that, like in west virginia.

I don't think any moral high ground can be claimed by the Democrats on this issue because we all saw, and maybe still see, the same attitude and couched language from the Clinton campaign. Just when I thought we were beyond this sort of thing as a society, baser elements have reared their ugly heads.

In light of that, I felt it extraordinary that Colin Powell came out as he did, in the terms that he did - as if to challenge the McCain campaign to come after him the same way. In one swoop he undercut the whole "funny named, terrorist-black guy, socialist" line. Maybe we need to hear this stuff denounced once and for all - a swan song for the ignorant. Change is really somethin', ain't ti?
