Bang the Drum: Live Blog Compassion Forum (Obama)

Wow, Obama is so out of touch with girls, it's the 14-18 age group, not 12 years old.

I would have asked him how he would provide FOOD and CLOTHES,
for the poor! What he intends to do with welfare, and the time limits that have made many people homeless.
I would have asked him did he think bringing his children
to church to hear "hate preaching" would make them compassionate adults?

    Fannie,

In poor neighborhoods, it's kids as young as 12 and 13. He's not out of touch with girls, just girls in pretty suburbia, maybe.

I challenge you to listen to an entire sermon of Rev. Wright's or at least read a transcript. You'll discover there wasn't any hate there.

As for bringing the kids, you probably know the kids generally have their own Sunday School class. Better taking the kids to church than other, less important places, like the mall.

Karol: I know all about those neighorhoods, lived it!
You and Obama need to know the facts, most average age
in America (regardless of location) is 13-19.
Of course, I am not going to say there are no 12 yr olds
in the picture, there are, but not in the high numbers.
After all last week we saw where a 12 year old girl
was dancing in a strip club in Dallas, Tx., she being at risk, and there could
very well be a 12 year old in that polygamy bunch that
were taken out of the compound last week. There is the case of sexual abuse of girls from family members who have become
    pregnant.

So why did Obama lie about the fact he didn't know about Rev's sermons, and then two days later give his "race speech"
to convince us he was not lying?
Why did he lie tonight and say Rev wasn't his spiritual advisor, when in fact the Rev. was listed as "Spiritual Advisor" at his website, and spiritual advisor and long
time friend in his books, & in his speeches.
When Rev. Wright said one 18 year old white girl from Alabama, goes off and gives it up in Aruba..after
hearing that, I don't need to read or hear anything else
from Rev. Wright, just isn't a challenge, know what I mean,
blaming her for her rape and murder.. Natalie was just
a teenager too, it wasn't her fault!

You're misstating facts, I'm guessing intentionally. To anyone who happens to join this discussion, you can factcheck the following false statements:

"obama lie about the fact that he didn't know about Rev's sermon" Misstatement of what Obama said

Didn't say Wright wasn't spiritual advisor, said he was his pastor. pastors = spiritual advisors. My pastor is anti-gay. I'm not. Get a clue. Once again, churches are about community, not pastors/spiritual advisors.

It's okay if you don't want to vote for Obama. You don't have to shit on his pastor in order to justify it. Really, it's fine. Just put your pen in the Hillary bubble and mark it. Vote for McCain when obama gets the nomination so that you can risk your son being dead in Iraq at some point in the next four years.

But for God's sake, get your facts straight.

She (H. R. Clinton) says that she knows how to support pressure while she starts to blubber as soon as it in trouble. Proof in New Hampshire …

    Fannie,
I do think that by refusing to read anything else, you are already closing the way to understanding. These things need to be approached open-mindedly. What you are stating here could be equal to "hate preaching." All of us makes mistakes. Obama might have had Rev. Wright as his spiritual mentor, which does not necessarily mean that everything he learned, he learned from him. We need to be able to take the good with the bad, to understand that nobody is perfect, that we are human. Obama is too. The only difference is that he is a candidate for president and given all that he's done, his commitment toward community, his personality, determination to rise with the support of the American people. This is CHANGE. For him to become the first black nominee is CHANGE. But he wasn't nominated because he was black or African-American. He was nominated because he is good, he is a visionary, and has the audacity of hope. You should visit his website or even whyobama08.org.
