Bang the Drum: Damn America, Indeed

Amen. I'm liking your tone...don't stop!

Thanks, Erin. At this point it's the press beating it to death. Maybe it's good that it's happening now, but it's only good if we can have an honest dialogue about it and maybe get past the knee-jerk idiocy. The press is not setting a good example in that regard. If I hear one more pundit say "you must consider Dr. Wright when considering Obama" like Wright is a millstone, I'll scream.

Dr. Wright is actually pretty direct, eloquent and passionate. Plus, the music in their services rocks hard. Some amazing jazz musicians there.

The thing that bugs me most about this are the truths behind Wright's statements are, as usual, mostly ignored. Our history of 'indiscretions' as a nation are facts that few wish to examine; much like the taboo on examining racism. Those 'indiscretions' continue today, yet it is 'unpatriotic' to point them out.

    Hi Joffi,

Exactly right. It seems that context, nuance, and yes, truth, are largely forgotten when it comes to politics, and political discourse.
